British traveler-photographer Gurdip Mattu visited the Aghadada cemetery in Ulukhanli settlement of Zangibasar mahal. - Information
Aghadada mosque was located near the village of Gulujan, surrounded by the villages of Ulukhanli, Habilkand, Seyidkand and Sarvanlar. Because it is on the edge of the Garasu river, river and rock stones were used in the construction of the mosque in the historical Aghadada cemetery, and its face was plastered with white soil. According to approximate calculations, the mosque was 5 meters wide, 8 meters long, and 3.5 meters high. The mosque was more solemn during funerals and religious holidays for Muslims. During the deportation that took place in 1987-1991, Armenians committed genocide, vandalism and brutality against the Azerbaijani population, and destroyed many material cultural monuments belonging to Azerbaijanis with a history of several centuries. The Aghadada mosque also suffered from this vandalism, and the mosque was set on fire.
Besides being an example of Islamic cultural heritage and religious identity, the mosque in Aghadada cemetery is important from the point of view of being a monument that appeals to the spiritual world of the people.
