Aghudu tombstone monuments

It is located in Aghudu villa­ge in Zangazur mahal, Gara­kil­sa district, 10-12 km below the foothills of Ishigli moun­tain, 2 km abo­ve Bazarchay ri­ver.

The name of Aghudu village was changed to Agitu on 19.04.1991

Architec­ture

In the 1960s, in the name of res­toration, the two-tower gra­ve monument was dismantled by Armenian officials in front of the public and repaired with newly inscri­bed stones

The toponym was formed based on the name of the uti//udi Turkic-speaking tri­be with the word ag, which means "res­pec­table, high, high" in the ancient Tur­kish language. It is an ethnotoponym. It is a structurally complex toponym. The two-tower gravestone monument in Agu­du village dating back to the 6th century and the ram figures and various patterns on the gravestones indicate that the villa­ge is an ancient home of Azer­baijan.
