The caravansary was built mainly from local pood stones and lime mortar. When choosing a place for the construction of the caravansary, the presence of drinking water nearby, as well as the protection of the area from wind and snow storms, were taken into account. During the construction of the caravansary complexes, places were built for the accommodation of both people and pack animals. That is why the architectural and construction solution of the caravansary was distinguished by its originality.
In terms of plan, the rectangular, single-aisled and three-aisled caravansary is an elongated hall-type building. The length of the caravansary hall reached 30 meters. The corridor was completed with parallel double pillars and pilasters on which the vaulted roof rested. The roof of the corridors of the caravanserai was covered with stone slabs. The entrance door opened transversely, from the side wall to the facade. The hall of the caravanserai was illuminated by holes opened in the roof of the building. In some caravanserai, as in castles and palaces, it was illuminated and ventilated through the walls and corners of the building. In terms of architecture, the Alagöz caravanserai has a similar architectural composition to almost all caravanserai in Azerbaijan. They differed from each other only in their size and style, that is, whether they were large or small.
