Current situation

The temple in Gozlu village remains in a partially usable condition even today. It was appropriated by Armenians and is presented as an "Armenian monument".

Information

The Albanian temple is located a short distance from Gozlu village, on the river bank. The temple, built of red tuff stone, is 10 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 4 meters high. The temple is surrounded by green grass, 30-35 meters from the side a small branch of the river passes. The wall, roof, and tower part of the temple are in a partially usable condition. The roof is overgrown with tall grass. (Source: referring to the photo taken on 02.04.2011).  It is marked on the 5 verst map of the Caucasus. Azerbaijanis lived there until 1828. After the Treaty of Turkmenchay, in 18291832, Armenians relocated from Mush, Alashkirt, Kars provinces of Turkey, Qazvin and Khoi provinces of Iran were settled here, and Azerbaijanis were deported from the village.

The toponym is derived from the name of the "gozlu" tribe. It is an ethnotoponym. It is a simple toponym in structure.
