Current situation

The Albanian temple in the village of Ortakilsa and the tombstones, which are Islamic monuments, show that the village was an ancient homeland of Azerbaijanis. The Albanian temple in the village of Ortakilsa was restored by Armenians, Armenian inscriptions and cross elements were added to it, and it was nationalized. Nowadays it is presented as an "Armenian monument"

Information

It is located in the cemetery on the outskirts of the village of Ortakilsa. A fence of about 1–1.2 meters made of river and rock stones separates the temple and the cemetery area. The temple was built with yellow and red rectangular tuff stones. White plaster was used in its construction. The width and length of the temple are 10, and its height, including the roof, is about 9–10 meters. The tower part is built in a semicircular, drum structure, and the round triangular roof is covered with red tiles. The temple had 4 entrance doors and narrow long windows. The temple, built in a rectangular shape, has a projection on all four sides, about 2–2.5 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 3–3.5 meters high, covered with a tiled triangular roof and each with a separate door.
The village was under the jurisdiction of the Leninakan (Gumru) district until 1937. It is noted in the “Irevan Province Summary Book” and on the 5-mile map of the Caucasus.
The church there was an Albanian church. Armenians came to the area from Iran after the Turkmenchay Treaty was signed.

The toponym was formed based on the name of the religious temple - church in the village. Since there were several churches in that area, the lexical unit "orta" was added to the toponym as a distinguishing word, and a village called Ortakilse was formed. It is a complex toponym formed due to the relief.
