Information

The Strel monument is located in the village of Kichik Zeyva, 5 km southeast of the district center. The Strel monument, dating back to the Albanian period, is carved from dark gray rock. It is erected on a rock with a height of 1.2 and a width of 1 meter. The height of the Strel monument is about 2.5–3 meters and a width of about 0.4 meters.
In 1831, 234 people lived in the village, 492 in 1873, 516 in 1886, 580 in 1897, 550 in 1904, 598 in 1914, 491 in 1916, and 2174 in 1919.
In 1918, the Azerbaijani population was subjected to Armenian aggression and expelled from their historical and ethnic lands through massacres.

The village is a locality formed from the Turkic toponym Zeyve (later Yukhari Zeyve). The toponym is a combination of the Azerbaijani word "kichik", which means a distinctive feature, and the Arabic word zawiya, which means "corner, corner, angle".
