The ancient caravanserai is located 1 km south of the Bazarjig village of the Abaran region of the Karbibasar district.
The caravanserai was built in 1213. The caravanserai near the Bazarjig village had an architectural composition similar to other Western Azerbaijan caravanserai. It differed from the others only in size and style characteristics, that is, in being large or small. The caravanserai was built from large white and gray river and rock stones using white plaster mortar.
It is mentioned in the “Iravan province summary notebook” and on the 5-verst map of the Caucasus. It has been known since 1590. Armenians were resettled here from the Turkish provinces of Mush, Alaşkert and other places in 1829–1830, and in 1878 the village's population of Azerbaijani Turks was expelled and Armenians were settled. According to information from 1886, the village's population was Armenians. In 1946, the village was renamed "Arik".The toponym was formed by adding the suffix "-çığ", which means diminutive, to the Turkish ethnonym "bazar" (basar). It is an ethnotoponym. It is a structural modification toponym. It is an imported name. It was formed as a result of the settlement of families from the village of Bazarçık in the Kağızman district of Kars province.
