Information

In the village cemetery, which covers a large area, there are historical monuments belonging to Azerbaijanis from the V-VII centuries. In the cemetery, a large number (more than 100) chest-shaped tombstones are arranged with a short distance between them. Inscriptions and images on Turkish-Oghuz, Albanian graves, chests, ram statues and many gravestones 2-3 meters high prove that Azerbaijanis have lived in the area since ancient times. Armenians asked to change the origin of the monument by adding Armenian elements and an Armenian cross to many monuments. (Source: referring to the photo dated 13.07.2011).

The toponym "Masdara" is derived from the words "mas" and "dara (valley)" in the meaning of "Mas dara (Mas valley)". The Maslar are a branch of the Sak tribes that have settled in the South Caucasus, including Western Azerbaijan, since ancient times (around the 8th century BC). The name of Maslar remained in the toponyms of Masalli, Masazir, Mashtagha, Masis, Meskhet, Khachmaz (Khachmaz) in the territory of the modern Republic of Azerbaijan and Western Azerbaijan.
