Information:

Demirbulag Mosque in İravan (17th-18th centuries)

The 17th-18th century mosque, located in the Demirbulag district of Yerevan city, is called "Gunluklu" and "Umbrella Mosque" because of the dome built on top of the building. The mosque was built by Haji Muzaffar Agha, one of the wealthy people of Yerevan. In the inscription on it, it is indicated that the mosque was built in 1327 according to the Hijri calendar, that is, in 1909 according to the Gregorian calendar. The mosque had no minaret. Instead, a 1.5-2 meter high square square was built in the open air on the roof of the mosque building.

The mosque, which operated until 1988 and served the pious Muslims of the city, was attacked, looted and burned by radical Armenian nationalists on February 23 of that year. Dermirbulag Mosque was completely destroyed in 1990 and a modern residential building was built in its place.
