Gighi mosque

It is located in the village of Gig­hi (Kichik Sofulu, Saralli) in the wide plain where the Garli River, the right branch of the Gighi Ri­ver, joins the Gafan District of Zangazur ma­hal, 35 km northwest of the district cen­ter.

The name of the village is co­pied into the Ar­menian lan­guage and used as Geghi

Architec­ture

The remains are left on the right bank of the Gighi River, 28 km northwest of the city of Gafan.

It is an ancient historic village. Azer­baijanis have always lived in the village. There were many ancient historical mo­numents or their remains in Gighi vil­lage. The most important of these mo­numents are the 10th-century Gighi Cast­le and the remains of the Gighi Mosque, which is a brilliant example of medieval Muslim architecture.
