Information

In addition to Azerbaijani researchers, Russian researchers and archaeologists also provided substantial information about the ancient inscriptions of Ashaghi Zaghali village.  B. Piotrovsky talks about the inscriptions found in the territory of Ashaghi Zaghali village and shows that the name of the state that existed in these areas is mentioned as "Arkuniani-Arkukuni". The word "Arkuniani" which means "Argun yurdu" and "Argun fortress" corresponds to a complex toponym coined by Academician B. Piotrovsky. In the notes on page 16 of the "Iravan Province Review Book" compiled in 1728, it is unequivocally indicated that Argun village existed in Mazra region.

The village of Ashagi Zaghali is rich in ancient inscriptions. Therefore, inscriptions play an important role in the study of the history of the area.
