Information

In the center of the village and near the bordering Pembak village, on the right bank of the Shimpir river, there are cross stones written in the Grabar alphabet, which tell about the life of the Albanian Turks dating back to the IIIV centuries, in the place called "Yolashan". The village of Shimpir, located on both banks of the Shimpir River, was once a settlement of Albanian Turks from the III-V centuries to the middle of the XVI centuries, i.e. 1550-1560s, and is rich in historical monuments. Its full name is Babajan creek. In a source from 1728, it was mentioned as the name of a village in the Girkhbulak district. The village was created in the Babajan valley. The valley belonged to the landowner Babajan. The village of Babajan was founded at the beginning of XVII century (1715). About 200 Azerbaijani families lived in the village until the deportation of 1987-1991.

Gur spring in the village, Port-port spring, Pari spring, Garalar spring, Babajan and Shimpir rivers passing through the center of the village, Goycha lake near the village and Alagollar in the mountain area, Amudlu valley, Arashdi's yurd, Gahraman's yurd, Molla Ahmad's yurd, Murtuza's yurd, Garalar yurd, Gisir mountain, Sari rock, Shimpir valley, Tarsa forest, Arikhlig forest, Gurut hill, Garaadij forest, Shimpir commune and other places show that it is an Azerbaijani homeland.
