- Information
The village of Aghbulag was known as one of the educational centers of Goycha since the middle of XX century: before the establishment of Soviet power in the village, there was a madrasa providing education in religious and secular sciences. Although Mashadi Ali's and Mashadi Molla Hasan's schools were religiously inclined, since special attention was paid to secular sciences, many children from the surrounding villages studied in these schools. According to historical sources, the foundation of Aghbulag village was laid in the second half of XVI century. The total area of Aghbulag, a mountain village, was 38 square kilometers. According to official statistics, 136 Turkish families lived in Aghbulag in 1831. Even after suffering significant losses in the massacres of 1905, Aghbulag continued to remain one of the strategically important settlements of Azerbaijanis. So, according to official statistics, 940 Oghuz Turks lived in the village in 1908, 982 in 1914, and 1329 in 1919. In 1914 there were 982 people, in 1986 there were 1500 people. The name was changed to Aghperek in 1991.
Since the madrasa in Agbulag village gave more priority to the teaching of secular sciences, there were many people from Aghbulag village and surrounding villages who came to study here. The village madrasa played the role of a center of lore teaching religion and language. In addition, it is clear that the village is a developed Azerbaijani home from the religious and cultural point of view.
