- Information
The madrasa was located in the Tapabashi quarter of the city of Iravan. The neighborhood is called "Tapabashi" because it is located in a high hilly area. After the abolition of the Iravan Khanate by Tsarist Russia in 1930, the Tapabashi neighborhood preserved the cultural heritage of the Khanate period in the city. The madrasa, one of the great temples of knowledge, was considered one of the prominent buildings of the neighborhood at that time. In 1828, secular sciences were taught in the madrasa in the neighborhood where 2537 Azerbaijanis lived, along with religious education. The front part of the madrasa was built in the Eastern architectural style with red bricks and two arches. After the last deportation of West Azerbaijanis in 1987-1991, the surrounding ancient houses were demolished and high-rise buildings were built in their place. The madrasa, which was not dismantled and was woven between the arches by Armenians, has become a place of residence for several families.
The madrasa taught not only religion and sharia, but also mathematics, history, literature and other subjects.
