- Information
Mantash or Garagala was built during the Arab rule, on the top of a mountain on the right bank of Aghstafachay, about 12 km southeast of Ijevan. Its doors are whole and made of large stones. It was one of the big and impregnable towers of the region. Now this tower is in ruins. Only small parts of its walls remain. Traces of a number of dwellings can be felt inside.
The territory of the Karvansara region, where the tower is located, was the homeland of the Turkic-Oghuz tribes. The tower was built for defense purposes.
