Information

Mighri caravansary is one of the 999 caravansaries built by Shah Abbas I in the country.  The architecture and construction of the front part of the caravanserai belonging to the Azerbaijanis of Iravan, which was built on a low hill by the side of the road in the Eastern architectural style and has a wide entrance oval door, is similar to the entrance of the Shusha fortress and the madrasa in Iravan. The walls of the caravanserai with gray iron doors are made of red tuff stone. The approximate height of the wall where the entrance door is located is 6 meters, the length is 20-25 meters, the outer wall part is 5 meters, and the number of stone steps from the road to the entrance door of the caravanserai is about 20.

The toponym is related to the name of Mehrani, the ruler of the Mehrani dynasty, who founded the city. Only Azerbaijanis lived in the area where the Mighri caravanserai is located. The roadside caravanserai was a place for merchants, travelers and other travelers to spend the night.
