- Information
Traces of ancient Albanian history can be found in many places in this area. MuradKhach monument, located on the border with Chakhirli village, is the oldest of them. There are also various monuments dating back to the III-V centuries, such as the cross stone written in the Grabar alphabet, which tells about the life of the Albanian Turks. After the Albanians, the foundation of the village of Subatan was laid in the middle of the XVII century (1850-1860) by the head of the Mayilli tribe, Karbalai Shikhali. He left the village of Chakhirli with 8 families of his relatives and chose the current village of Subatan as their place of residence. The name of the village was changed twice from the first day of its establishment until December 1988.
Along with the Murad-Khach stone monument, carpet weaving is also widespread here. Zangazur of Iravan carpet weaving school, many examples of Shirvan carpet weaving school and other types of carpets were woven in private homes and handed over to the state. Now Armenians present these carpets to the world as "Armenian works".
