Information

The Musluglu Mosque is located in the village of Musluglu, 17 km northwest of the center of the Amasya region. River and rock stones were used in the construction of the mosque, and its surface was plastered with white soil. According to approximate calculations, the mosque was 10 meters wide, 12 meters long, and about 4-5 meters high. The mosque was especially popular during funeral ceremonies and Muslim religious holidays. During the deportations that took place in 1918–1920, Armenians committed genocide, vandalism and barbarity against the Azerbaijani population, destroying many of the centuries-old material and cultural monuments belonging to Azerbaijanis. The Musluglu mosque also suffered from this vandalism and was burned down. The mosque, which was restored by Azerbaijanis who returned to the village in 1922, was demolished by Armenians in 1925–1930, and its stones were used to build houses and stables.
In 1886, 150 Azerbaijanis lived in the village, in 1897 - 199, in 1908 - 223, in 1914 - 317. In 1918-1920, the inhabitants of the village were expelled. After the establishment of Soviet power in present-day Armenia, the surviving Azerbaijanis were able to return to their native villages. In 1922, 57 Azerbaijanis lived in the village, in 1926 - 82. The village was liquidated in the 1930s. Now it is a ruined village.

The Musluqlu village mosque, in addition to being an example of Islamic cultural heritage and religious identity, is important as a monument that addresses the spiritual world of the people. In the Shorayel district, the word "mustuq" is used in the sense of "a water vessel made of stone". Mustuq is a phonetic variant of the word "musluq" (the substitution of the sound "l~t" in the Azerbaijani language is a legal case). The correction formed on the basis of the relief is a toponym.
