Current situation

After the deportation of the population through the genocide of Öksüz in the winter of 1989, Azerbaijanis were not allowed to visit the Öksüz shelter. It was overturned and the damage around it was removed.

Information

The Oksuz Quarry is located near the village of Oksuz in the Amasia district­. The pier is made up of long stone with a height of about 3 meters and a width of less than one meter­. Since it­ is considered one of the most popular hearths­ in the Agbaba region, the people of the villages of the Agbaba­district­­ come to visit the hearth­, intent, make vows, and cut the Qur­'an­.  Although there were no buildings on the pier, which was located ­on the outskirts­ of the village of Oksuz in the district, it was surrounded by piled stone slabs­, although there were no buildings on it. The people­ prayed, lit candles, and­ went to the fireplace­ on the day of the festival, and kept the surroundings­­ clean. The village of Oksuz­­­ is located 23 km north-west of­­­ the village of Amasiya district, on the border with­ the Republic of Georgia. In 1886, 62 people lived in the village, 96 in 1897, 153 in 1908, 176 in 1914­­. In 1916, the Azer­Bay was ­expelled from the village­. ­ After the establishment of the Armenian Armed Forces in­ the Soviet Union,­ the surviving­ survivors­ of the Azerbaijani ­people­were able to return to­ their ­native villages­. In 1922, 242 in 1926, 270 in 1931, 241 in 1971, and 291 in 1987 there were 291 people­ ­living in the village. ­ In the winter of 1989­­, the creatures of Azer ­Bay­ were expelled from­ the ethnic lands­ of the Republic of Armenia. Now the Armenians live. ­­­
