- Information
The dome of the Aghadada cemetery on the edge of the Karasu River was built of red tuff stone. The dome, which is an oval-shaped architectural structure, has a high ceiling and is covered with red tiles. The dome with the big door was burned by Armenians after the mass deportation of Azerbaijanis in 1987-1991. In the video footage of the dome taken on 07.08.2013, it can be seen that the upper part has suffered more damage and a part of the right side has fallen and collapsed. British traveler-photographer Gurdip Mattu visited the shrinecemetery in Aghadada, Ulukhanli settlement of Zangibasar mahal. From the photographs taken by the photographer in 2021, it was observed that the cemetery was almost completely destroyed, but the image of the dome was not included in the photographs. This gives reason to express an opinion in the direction of complete collapse.
Gumbaz is a religious-mystical and material-cultural monument representing the sacred belief of the population as a shrine in Aghada.
