The Sangar fortress was destroyed by the Armenians and its ruins remained.
- Information
Sangar tower is located on Sangar Mountain, 2.5 km from Duzkand village of Amasiya region. The lower part of the castle walls was made of huge rocks and cut stones. Its walls are more than 3 meters thick and about 5-6 meters high. On Sangar mountain, near the tower, graves with horse and ram statues remained until recently. The majestic tower on top of the Sangar mountain tells about the ancient city culture in Aghbaba.
The toponym is derived from the word formed from the combination "duz", which means "desert, plain", "a place without slopes, ups and downs" in the Azerbaijani language and the word "kand", which means "a place of residence, city" in the ancient Turkish language It is a complex toponym.
