- Information
Tatar quarter was located in Dilijan city. Now it covers the central part of the city. The toponym "Tatar" is used as a synonym of the Azerbaijani nation (in the 19th century, Azerbaijanis were also called Tatars), ethnonym was formed based on the addition of the word yal, which means "mountain waist", "line connecting the highest peaks of the mountain", "steep, top of the mountain" in the Azerbaijani language. Dilijan is made up of houses and neighborhoods built in Azerbaijani and Eastern architectural style. The cobbled streets and architecture of Gambar give the impression of an Eastern city.
Neighborhoods in the city of Dilijan bore the material and cultural traces of Azerbaijanis. The fact that most of the settlements, streets, neighborhoods, etc. are in Azerbaijani Turkish once again shows that this area was one of the ancient settlements of Azerbaijanis.
